What is menopause, and when does it start?
Menopause is the ceasing of the monthly female menstrual cycle. Some common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and sleeplessness.
The average age of menopause in the United States is 52 years old; yet the age of onset varies and can occur anytime between 40 and 60. Prior to menopause, some women experience perimenopause, a time period that can include many of the symptoms of menopause before menstruation stops.
What is PMS, and what are its symptoms?
Premenstrual syndrome, or PMS, occurs for up to two weeks prior to menstruation. PMS has been associated with a deficiency or excess of hormones, nutritional deficiencies and stress, as well as other nutritional and lifestyle factors.
Symptoms of PMS include increased levels of anger and stress, bloating, breast tenderness and sensitivity, abdominal discomfort, sadness, short-term fatigue, head discomfort, hostility, trouble sleeping, joint discomfort, mood swings, nervousness and tension.
How can nutraMetrix Prime Feminene help maintain hormonal balance?
The unique ingredients included in nutraMetrix Prime Feminene have been shown in studies to help modulate the body’s response to a number of hormonal triggers, both internally and externally.
One of these factors is estrogenic activity, or EA, which is considered a hormone disruptor. Estrogen, the primary female sex hormone, plays a significant role in women’s mental health, and maintaining normal levels of estrogen are necessary to reduce the symptoms of perimenopause and postmenopause.
According to studies, certain synthetic and naturally occurring chemicals – also called hormone disruptors – can interfere with these processes and lead to adverse effects. The ingredient Lifenol® is rich in prenylflavonoids – specifically 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN), a very active phytoestrogen – and has been shown to have positive effects on menopausal concerns related to estrogenic activity, including hot flashes and night sweats.
Clinical trials and studies have found that maca, an adaptogenic herb, helps control the body’s response to stress, while also helping to maintain energy and relieve mild discomfort associated with menopause. Maca has also been shown to help stabilize mood.
Chaste berry extract is traditionally used to promote normal levels of female hormones and for mild menopausal concerns. Its ability to support normal hormone balance and promote a healthy menstrual cycle is due in large part to its phytochemical makeup, which includes diterpenes, flavonoids, essential oils and glycosides.*
